Philanthropy

Together we can make a world of difference.

Enhancing the community with ethical and smart investments.

Continuing to see possibilities in our investment goals and the world around us, allows for a deeper commitment when contributing back to the community.

A Brief Holiday2

Our Commitment

We love where we live, and we love to explore. We care about providing service in many ways to our larger community. We participate on non-profit boards, financial donations and unique events by showing up with practical ideas and solutions.

Our ongoing commitment, innovation and leadership within our community make us one of Imagine Canada's Caring Companies. That means we support the principles of corporate citizenship and benchmarks for community investment established by Imagine Canada.

  • Minimum of 1% pre-tax domestic profit to support charitable and non-profit organisations.
  • Encourage and facilitate the personal contribution and volunteer activities of our employees.
  • Champion and sustain at least one community investment project that is supported by our president.
  • Leverage the skills and competencies of the company to make a difference in the community.

Community Partnerships

We see many ways to make a difference. Our community partners are those with whom we have an ongoing relationship to foster long-term vision and success.

The SANDSTONE City Builder Award

Each spring, our mayor and the Calgary Arts Development Association host a lunch to celebrate support for the arts in Calgary. Cultural, government and corporate leaders gather to witness the annual Cultural Leaders Legacy Awards.

We established the SANDSTONE City Builder Award to recognise artists who make Calgary a better place to live.

Past winners include:

  • 2017 - The New Gallery
  • 2016 - Quickdraw Animation Society
  • 2015 - Studio C
  • 2014 - Antyx Community Arts Society
  • 2013 - Onalea Gilbertson

Calgary Drop-in and Rehabilitation Centre

Every December we round-up necessary items for the largest one-time donation to the Calgary Homeless Drop-In Centre. In addition to gathering much-needed necessities, we campaign to raise awareness about services offered at the shelter, and social issues facing our city.

Alberta Ballet

Keeping great artists in our city makes it a better place. We have collaborated with Alberta Ballet's artistic director Jean Grand Maître, in believing our sponsorship will help continue his extensive legacy of eclectic performing art showcased around the globe.

Corporate Giving

We have a long-standing commitment to not-for-profit organisations through various monetary contributions, individual board involvement, and volunteering. Each one of us has the support required to pursue personal passions through a wide variety of volunteer options.

Volunteering and Board involvement has included the following organisations:

  • One Yellow Rabbit
  • Calgary Arts Development Authority
  • The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Immigrant Youth
  • Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • Soup Sisters
  • Springboard Performance
